How can a user analyse the information published in IATI?

How does a user, e.g. a policy officer at a Dutch Embassy or an official at a local government in a recipient country, make use of information published in the IATI format for a specific project and analyze its content?

Although IATI files can be viewed directly, it is difficult to extract meaning out of an IATI file, as it is written in XML and the XML format is not intended for direct viewing. To view the content information of an IATI publication it is necessary to use a visualization tool. Users do not need to have prior knowledge about the technical IATI format when using such a tool.

Examples of such visualization tools are (IATI data of the Netherlands Ministry of Foreign Affairs), (IATI dataset of Cordaid, a Netherlands-based international NGO) or (the IATI dataset of the Netherlands Enterprise Agency).

In the course of 2016, the Netherlands Ministry of Foreign Affairs will develop visualizations to enable the appraisal of progress of activities by policy officers.

To the extent possible, the visualizations will be made available in the public domain.
